2008-02-19 Spring 2008 In January 08,Yakov Kreizberg officially started his new position as Artistic Director of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo, to which he will be Musical Director as from 2009-2010 Yakov Kreizberg will lead the Netherlands Opera in a new production of Janáček's Kát´a Kabanová in March 2008, premiered on the 3rd and with evening performances on the nights of the 5th, 9th, 12th, 14th, 16th, 19th and 21st March at the Het Muziektheater Amsterdam 16 Oktober 2007 Medal of Honour in Arts and Sciences for Yakov At an award ceremony in Vienna on 16th October, Yakov Kreizberg received the Ehrenkreuz für Wissenschaft und Kunst (Medal of Honour in Arts and Sciences) from the Republic of Austria. The decoration is the highest honour granted by the Republic of Austria for scientific or artistic achievements, acknowledging recognition of particularly outstanding creative achievement in the receiver's field of work, and recipients in recent years include Carlos Kleiber, Herbert von Karajan and Placido Domingo. The award was presented by the Austrian cultural minister Dr Claudia Schmied, and introduced by Peter-Sylvester Lehner and Florian Zwiauer, respectively Chief Executive and First Concertmaster of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. Mr Kreizberg has been the orchestra's Principal Guest Conductor since 2003, and has led the orchestra in many high profile concerts and tours. On 20th October Mr Kreizberg and the orchestra officially re-open the Theater in der Josefstadt, following its extensive renovation, with Beethoven's Overture 'The Consecration of the House', a work composed for the theatre's first re-opening in 1822. 22 May 2007 Record and Press Section updated The new records are online. October 2006 New release - Tchaikovsky A new recording of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D, Op. 35, Sérénade mélancolique Op.26 and Valse-Scherzo Op.34 with Julia Fischer and the Russian National Orchestra conducted by Yakov is to be released on the PentaTone Classics label 19.10.2006 On the road with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra Yakov and the Netherlands Philharmonic embark on seven-date European tour which includes two concerts in Salzburg on 19th and 20th October 21.09.2006 Opening a new season in Munich With an all-Shostakovich programme, Yakov conducts the opening concert of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra's new season. The programme for the opening concert on 21st September, of Shostakovich Violin concerto No. 1 in A minor Op. 77 with Vadim Repin and Shostakovich Symphony No. 5 in D minor Op. 47, will also be repeated on 22nd and 24th September August 2006 New release - Mozart Violin Concertos A new recording of Mozart Violin Concertos Nos. 1, 2 & 5 with Julia Fischer and Netherlands Chamber Orchestra is scheduled for release this month on the PentaTone Classics label Mozart Violin Concertos Volume 2 is in postproduction. June 2006 News from PentaTone This month the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra record Dvorak 7 to add to Dvorak 8 recorded in the previous month, with a recording of Dvorak 6 scheduled to take place in December. Shostakovich Symphonies 5 & 9, recorded with the Russian National Orchestra, are also in postproduction 15.06.06 Revolution at the Barbican Yakov and the LSO present Shostakovich's Symphony No. 11 ''The Year 1905'' plus Beethoven's Fifth Piano Concerto with Stephen Hough in the Barbican Hall 23.10.2005 7 Deadly Sins to celebrate 50 years of Netherlands Chamber Orchestra Yakov Kreizberg will lead proceedings in a staged production of Kurt Weill's 7 Deadly Sins at the Concertgebouw as part of Netherlands Chamber Orchestra 50th birthday celebrations. The concert will take place on November 19, 2005.
